Scene i. *There he stood in the doorway, silhouetted against the light from the hallway in the pitch black room, he looked like an angel as he gazed to the hospital bed before him. Several steps later followed as he approached the bed and one thing became clear: this was no angel.* “I know why you called.” *The voice is cold, distant, and empty, the man in the doorway doesn’t sound like Jimmy Gimmick. The appearance however, is unmistakable, he stands clad in all black attire, and between his lips sits a lit cigarette. Gimmick removes the cigarette from his mouth and releases a thin trail of smoke, all while shaking his head.* “Finally after all this time daddy calls upon his son to make him proud. What makes you think I want any part of your plan?” *As Gimmick speaks he creeps over to the bedside of Voglur where he smothers his cigarette into the nearby ashtray. Watching the smoke raise to the ceiling Voglur speaks, his words are barely audible and serve only as a whisper.* R/M/V/ “When did you become so cynical?” “You worried about gimmick infringement?” *Jimmy Gimmick pulls up the visitor’s chair to his father’s bed side and hastily brushes off the dust that had accumulated since his admission.* “You’ve always been evil dad there’s no mistaking it, you run your empire like a crime syndicate, you nearly had a man killed at Second Coming for running a fabricated story he wrote about you. But now your disgusting antics are sinking to new depths, I’m your son.” *Gimmick carefully lowers himself into the chair straightening his three piece black suit as he does. Voglur reaches to his bedside table and as his finger touches the cigarette package Gimmick pulls his fathers arm away and snatches the package before tossing it through the nearby open window letting them fall the nearly ten stories that the room is elevated from the ground by.* “How many times do I have to call you ‘Dad’ before that occurs to you?” *Shaking his head Gimmick watches his father wheeze uncontrollably, he frantically shoots glance after glance to the window, but they’re gone and won’t be coming back.* “Are you ever going to care about me like you care about your damn cigarettes? Are you ever going to hug me? Are you ever going to tuck me in? Are you ever going to care about me, are you ever going to…” *The one thing that he strove for why couldn’t he ask it? After all this time, this was the end of his father and he couldn’t bring himself to finish the one sentence that mattered to him above all others. A silence follows brought on by Gimmick’s pause which causes R.M. Voglur to interject.*(TBC: Voglur)

Scene ii. *Voglur’s tone continues to deteriorate with each passing word, if he lived until tomorrow he may have become a mute. Regardless of his voice his words came through clear, and they stung Gimmick like a dagger, Voglur knew they would, he also knew they needed to be spoken.*
“You’re the son who was given to me, not the one I wanted.”
*Silence ensued. For a single minute the father and son sat in the hospital room, tension filled the room Voglur’s wrinkled skin moved as he tried to speak but he was momentarily unable to string together a sentence.*
“I offer you an opportunity, one that you may never receive again: redemption.”
*The words came together, the twisted concept of Voglur’s thoughts were coming into view. Voglur had been hit with a startling revelation, he was not God, he was dying and if he went in agony without dignity this would be the end of his legacy.*
“I’ve seen the path which you tread I know where it goes, James I am offering you a way out. If you don’t take it now you will not get another chance, you will fall like so many others who have made the same choices.”
*Voglur spoke attempting to rationalize the decision for his son, his throat was ready to burst at the end of each sentence the pain had already become overwhelming, and if he survived this night it would get worse.*
“James make me proud.”
*The moment the words left his mouth he saw something in his son’s eye he had him, this was all going to end. Voglur nodded down to a bag beside his bed from which Gimmick withdrew a single needle.*
“I had the cameras turned off earlier, my personal security staff has replaced the standard hospital workers, we won’t be disturbed.”
*Voglur can barely move as he struggles to nod his head whilst his son inspects the needle. R.M.V. coughs, nearly hacking up his lungs, the sound echoes through the room which has been his home for far too long.*
“Do it.”
*A mere whisper escapes him as Jimmy Gimmick continues to look over what Voglur had gestured him to pick up, he looks at it as though he is lost, as if he has no idea what to do next.*
“Do it!”
*A shout escaped the FCW owner’s damaged vocal chords, but it was not one which Gimmick seemed to hear.*

Scene iii.
“You weren’t even going to say goodbye?”
*Gimmick rises to his feet, no longer content to be perched obediently at the bedside of his father. He stormed across the room and raised the needle up to the open window, which he had used to dispose of the cigarettes moments earlier, Voglur makes a sudden movement with his right arm, the voluntary jerk was the only motion he could muster. Voglur' effort was in vain as the needle was sent from the window and fell the countless stories to the busy roads below.*
“Father you’ve looked to me as a disappointment for my entire life, of course all along you’ve been too much of a coward to tell me. Now you call upon me to fulfill your final wishes, why put such an important act in my hands?”
*Voglur didn’t answer, he didn’t have to it was rhetorical. Gimmick knew, he’d known all along.*
“You knew I would do it, I finally have the opportunity to succeed in my father’s eyes, to become the son that he wanted. Why wouldn’t I help you?”
*Gimmick solemnly paces around the hospital room refusing to look at the disgusting site of his father. After all of this time the roles were reversed Voglur sat before him, weak, pathetic, vulnerable, all of the things Gimmick refused to be.*
“After all you’ve done to me.”
*Gimmick’s voice was cold, his usually emotional instability was non existent, he was calm, his actions disturbingly calculated.*
“Do you hear me Dad? I’m not scared of you, I’m not nervous, I’m not even upset. Everything is changing, and there is no opportunity for you’re eternally sought after redemption. It’s over.”
*James shifted his shoulder and his partially illuminated face watched his father, it was as empty as his conscience.*
“We’re past the point of no return now, I’m not going to kill you with a needle, you don’t deserve to die without pain or fear. You aren't going to go dignified, it wouldn’t be right.”
*Slowly Gimmick progresses towards the bed of R.M. Voglur, he looks into the owner’s eyes they are dark, old, dying.*
“But that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to die.”

Scene iv *Voglur’s eyes widened as he watched the shadow covered figure pace towards him, the room seemed to be spinning out of focus, it was progressively distorting as Gimmick approached.*
“What are you doing?”
*Gimmick stopped at the bedside of his father looking through the nearby glass pane at the top of which was the opening where James had disposed of the cigarettes and the needle required for the injection.*
“James there is another needle in the bag… its not to late to make the right decision.”
*Voglur could only see the shadows which danced across the face of Jimmy Gimmick as it was now his turn to literally look down at his father. Voglur’s distorted expression continued to darken with each passing second.*
“Please… son.”
*The owner of FCW whimpered finally addressing Gimmick by the title he had longed to hear, but it was futile, Voglur had played his final card and it had failed it was at this moment that an almost unnoticeable trickle emerged from the corner of Voglur’s eyes.*
“My son, you’re my son.”
*Pleading Voglur continued to repeat his revelation of sorts as his hoarse voice began to choke up further than ever before. The single stream splashed down Voglur’s face and dropped onto his bright white hospital gown. On cue James clenched his fists around the gown and pried his father from his position on the bed. Gimmick pulls Voglur to full height causing wires and cords to fall to the side of the hospital bed, Voglur staggered he would have collapsed if not for his son’s grasp. Gimmick roughly pulled his father across the hospital room his black suit contrasting with the hospital gown, the one thing that shone out through the darkness.*
“B-be merciful.”
*The face of Gimmick was invisible in the darkness, as he held his father in place for a moment before shaking his head with visible disdain.*
Jimmy Gimmick- How can I, I’m your son.
*As the words left James’ mouth Voglur felt a forceful tug from Gimmick, the owner of FCW was trembling now, the wet tears were still fresh on his face. Voglur opened his mouth to speak but he could no longer find the words, whether it was his worsening condition or if his silence was brought on by a lack of response no one would ever know. In that instance Gimmick lurched forward throwing his father with all of his strength directly into the plane of glass before them.
The moment lasted a lifetime, it was stunning almost beautiful Voglur thought to himself as he saw the plane erupt into thousands of shards before his eyes. They sprinkled the scene as if being guided by an unseen composer. As Richard Voglur collapsed backwards he caught a final glimpse of the man whom he had never treated like anything other than an employee, his son. James Dimmick stood amongst the shattered remains of the window, his features still indistinguishable from his dark surroundings, what his reaction to his unspeakable deed was Voglur would never know. He could hear music accompanying him, it wasn’t there he knew it yet he felt its presence, as Voglur fell he didn’t see the building anymore all he saw was the sky and the bright lights, the stars.
It was so full of stars.* (The End)
