Real Name: Karl Vance
Ring Name: Zelphyn D'Athaal
Nick Name: "The Scion"
Gender: Male
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 208lbs
Date of Birth: 06/05/1982
Hometown: The Abyss
Resides: The Bakery
Alignment: Heel
Entrance: "Guilty pleasure" by Cobra Starship thumps over the arena speaker system and the house lights cut out completely as a green searchlight plays across the entrance way. Slightly over a minute of the music has passed without the slightest twitch of the entrance curtain when D'Athaal finally appears. He slithers through the curtain and kneels in the spotlight which reflects off the burnished silver face mask that he wears. After a few seconds of swaying in time to the music while casting his gaze across the crowd he makes his way slowly down to the ring. Once at ringside he prowls around the outside of the ring before settling on a corner and slithering into the ring under the bottom rope, kneeling in his chosen corner to await the start of the match.
In Ring Attire: Deep green wrestling tights with gold and silver scaled snakes coiled around the full length of the legs. Also wears silver and gold scale patterened wrestling boots and a green elbow pad on his left elbow.
Wrestling Moves: European uppercut, cravat, many eye rake variations, blatant choke variations, cobra twist, northern lights suplex, fujiwara armbar, cobra clutch
Signature Moves: Eddie Kim sends his regards! (King Cobra Hold), Serpent Strike (Boma Ye-1:25 mark), Abyss Drop (Cobra clutch suplex), Poison (Queen Bee Bomb), Serpent's Gaze (Hypnotising gaze), Sidewinder (Northern lights suplex transitioned into a cross arm breaker)
Brief History: The evil that flows through the veins of Zelphyn D'Athaal is timeless. It existed before the heavens above and the hell below. It existed before the concept of time and, ever since it was cast into the abyss by the light it has bided it's time and waited. It has waited and it has watched, and it finds what it sees to be pleasing and disgusting in equal measure. The evil that men do, the savagery we inflict upon one another as a species, these things fill it's black core with as close an approximation of joy as such a beast could feel. However the goodness man is capable of, the generousity people show to one another, the compassion and good will, these things sicken the beast and cause it to spew and spit with fury.
However it watched, and it waited, it waited first for a man and then for freedom. That man was Karl Vance, on a family hiking holiday in Cardiff he stumbled upon an ancient onyx statue, carved into the likeness of a snake. Upon contact with the snake he was poisoned by the hate and venom of the ancient beast (in the defence of Wales there was a fairly clearly printed sign on the statue that read "DO NOT TOUCH - CONTAINS ANCIENT MALEVOLANT BASTARD OF A MONSTER". However Vance had lost his Welsh phrase book earlier that day, so he was sadly unprepared for reading that bizzare language.) and it constantly fought to take control of him. It constantly fought to overtake his personality and create its scion within the vessel of his body. Eventually the battle was won and now Zelphyn D'Athaal stalks the earth.
That or he's had a nervous breakdown, whatever.
Picture Base: Will be entered when I've edited out the "zomg huge" of it.
For now just picture a slightly taller and more tanned version of Russell Brand with an infinitely more garishly coloured wardrobe and some highlights in his hair.
Gimmick: Think Skeletor meets Serpentor with a dash of Ming the Merciless. Basically he's an evil "genius" super villain with machinations towards plunging the world into an age of horror and torment.
Also he has magic, and not that lame "is this your card?" sort either. We're talking serious hocus pocus here.
Strengths: Gone is the counter attack orientated style of Karl Storm, in it's place we see a more aggressive and intensely vicious array of strikes, joint locks and brutal suplexes. His smallish frame and high flexibility disguise significant explosive power, and his unorthodox attitude tends to disorientate opponents and put them firmly on the back foot.
Weaknesses: While the distinctly odd change in character is a distinct advantage, given that it serves to mask a vicious and capable wrestler and leads people to understimate D'Athaal right untill he caves their face in with the Serpent Strike, it is also every bit as much a weakness. His focus has a tendancy to waver, something a savvy opponent can certainly use to their advantage, his odd delusion is also a fairly easy avenue to manipulating him if somebody were so inclined.
D'Athaal also has problems with stamina, preffering as he does to fire fast and hard from the first minute and finish matches off as quickly and violently as possible. This means that as matches go long his composure lessens and his focus drifts more easily, it also means he is more inclined to throw his game plan out of the window and resort to ever more desperate attacks that could easily backfire.
Brand Preference: None.
