Jeremy Borash appears on the screen. Behind him is desert, and a dark, starless, sky. He stares into the camera a second before getting the signal to go.
"Jeremy Borash here, for FCW. Tonight I am going to present you with a first look at new FCW acquisition Cole Valencroft. I've been informed that I will be blindfolded and taken in this van you can see behind me to Cole's location. All I can say is that right now we are in the desert on the outskirts of Sin City, Las Vegas. I'll be back I guess, with Cole Valencroft."
The screen goes blank, and when it comes back on, Borash stands again in front of the camera. He appears to be inside a night club.
"Okay, I have just had my blindfold removed. We're apparently inside some kind of club. I've been instructed to keep the camera on myself and not filming the goings on of this place. I couldn't tell you how to get here, and frankly I don't think I'd risk it if I could. Apparently I'm waiting on someone who is going to lead me to Cole's location here in the club."
Almost on cue, a large, bearded, bald man walks toward Borash and motions for Jeremy to follow him. Jeremy does so, and they head toward the back of the club. They arrive at a door which is opened after the man knocks. Upon entering, there is a long winding stairway. The stairway seems to go down forever. At the bottom of the stairway is a dimly lit room. There are several tables set up. At the very last table sits Cole Valencroft. There are three people sitting with him. Borash approaches.
Borash - "Cole, Jeremy Borash with FCW. I'm here to do your interview."
Cole doesn't look up. His face is hard to read, as he is wearing dark shades even in the darkened room.
Cole - "Of course Jeremy, have a seat."
One of the men at the table gets up and motions for Borash to take his seat. He sits rather nervously.
Cole - "Before we get started Jeremy, have a drink."
Cole pours a dark red liquid into a glass that sits in front of Borash. Borash just looks down at the glass.
Cole - "Go ahead. Drink it."
Borash picks the glass up, still looking at it nervously.
Borash - "What is it?"
Cole - "It's blood Jeremy."
Jeremy quickly sits the glass back down. Cole chuckles, as do the others at the table.
Cole - "I'm kidding Jeremy, it's wine."
Borash still doesn't pick the glass up. After a few seconds the burly bald man snatches the glass up and downs it.
Cole - "You should trust me Jeremy. I'll never lie to you."
Borash tries to recover, forcing a smile. "I'm not allowed to drink when I'm on the job. When would be a good time to start the interview?"
Cole - "Ah yes. The interview. The proverbial glimpse into someone's soul. Go ahead Jeremy, proceed."
Borash - "Well, I guess we could start out with you telling us a little about yourself. Your background, why you decided to come to FCW, things like that."
Cole - "My background? What is there to tell. I was once just your average American kid. Just another mindless rat caught up in the day to day. Just a slave to society, and the rampant consumerism that keeps the world turning. I might have been on my way to becoming you Jeremy."
Cole smiles as the others at the table and a few more who have gathered to listen, laugh loudly.
Cole - "But I was rescued. Albeit rather harshly. You see for some strange reason it all came undone. Whether by fate or some cosmic coincidence, within a two year period my entire immediate family was dead. As soon as I made it through one painful funeral, some one else died. This happened until there was only me. What's wrong Jeremy?"
Borash - "That's terrible."
Cole - "Surprised I can talk about it so easily? When it first started happening I was shocked, as you can imagine. I wanted to die. I contemplated suicide many times, but in the end I was too big a coward to take my own life. I looked for death at the bottom of every bottle. With the ingestion of every drug, but it was not to be. I turned my attention to thrill seeking. Putting my life in danger was the ultimate rush, but still unsatisfying."
Borash - "So coming to FCW is an extension of that?"
Cole - "Not really, I mean sure it'll be fun to step into that ring with a guy trying to destroy me physically. I doubt though, that I'll be in danger of dying. It's more of a change of pace really. You see Jeremy, around here I am king. I'm worshiped. This whole place is full of my followers. I'm like a god to them. There isn't a man in here who wouldn't step in front of a bullet for me. There isn't a woman in here who wouldn't give herself to me in a heartbeat. So it'll be nice to be surrounded, for once by people who want to hurt me. It'll be quite enjoyable."
Borash - "So are your ultimate goals in FCW the same as everyone else? To win titles and be successful?"
Cole - "Jeremy. Haven't I given you enough? You know more of my story already than some of my closest followers. Look at them gathered around the table. Most of them heard what I just told you for the first time. How can you understand that kind of motivation? How can you understand a man so secretive telling his life story to a camera that will air to millions? How can you understand a loner who is surrounded by people?"
Borash - "So you don't wish to say anything more?"
Cole - "Listen to yourself Jeremy. The finality of it all. More will come. Soon. Wait for it. Be patient Jeremy. Now go. We'll see each other again. Please forgive the blindfold. It's a necessary precaution."
Borash - "Well...thank you for your time."
Borash is led back up the stairs as the camera again stops. When it comes back on, Borash is again standing in the desert, the van behind him.
"Well, there you have it. Cole Valencroft. I don't know if we answered more questions than we raised, but there it is. For FCW, I'm Jeremy Borash.
